LHAG has not addressed "Global Warming" in its recommended
grounds for objection. This page explains why.
The planning system in the UK legally obliges decision making bodies (in this case Surrey County Council
acting as the reponsible Minerals Planning Authority) to determine planning applications
on planning grounds alone. Objections that only challenge national policies (e.g. call for oil and gas
not to be extracted under any circumstances or investment only to be made in renewable sources) would be
automatically discounted. For this reason LHAG's recommended grounds for
objection are restricted to the planning issues that SCC must and will consider.
That said, most people would agree that reducing our consumption of fossil fuels is to be encouraged and we can
all play our part in this. Indeed the amounts of oil and gas in locations like Leith Hill (if they exist at all)
are paltry compared to the fossil fuel savings that could be made by "wiser use".
The Internet has over 13,000,000 pages about this important subject which you can find - of course - with Google:

A balanced summary of global warming issues and many links to scientific bodies and academic papers can be found at:

Campaigners, Simon Lea & Janet Housden were invited to join a class of 8 year olds at a local Dorking school to discuss this
important issue and used this Powerpoint presentation (be patient - make take 2 mins)
which was intended to be "neutral" about the topic - and hopefully educational.
